Yes — and by the time your kitten comes home, it is second nature to them.
Litter training begins naturally with the mother cat. From a young age, kittens observe and follow their mama's lead, learning to use the litter box as part of their normal daily routine. Mother cats are remarkably consistent teachers, and most kittens have the basics down well before they are weaned. Because our kittens are raised in our home, they have access to clean litter boxes from the start and quickly establish strong, reliable litter habits in a real living environment — not a cage or isolated space.
By the time your kitten arrives home, litter box use is already an established habit. That said, we always recommend placing a litter box in an easy-to-find location when your kitten first arrives and keeping it scrupulously clean while they are getting used to their new surroundings. A new home is a big transition, and setting them up for success with consistent access makes that adjustment smooth.
